This is an unbelievable road journal by Natalie Ratkovski. She is a talented designer and illustrator currently living in Hattingen, Germany. It's truly incredible to see how much work was put into this journal. I love all the different elements that went into it. Normally you would expect a few sketches from a journal but Natalie's includes things that pop out, layered cards/images/mementos from different places she visited, and an especially nice touch in a pocket for her receipt. To truly understand how much time, effort and creativity went into this project, check out her Live Journal post. It is truly one of the most inspiring projects I've seen lately.
Loving this series of photos by Jamie Nelson. They have a very retro, hippie, 70's feel to them. This is just one of the many great fashion photo series' in Nelson's portfolio. If you like these, I recommend checking the rest out.
Here are some pretty nice landscape photos by Garry Schlatter. They are all considered his "Most Interesting" photos on Flickr. Many of them have a serene and contemplative feel to them. He definitely has a way of capturing the perfect light for his shots.
My favorite, is the moon shot which beautifully captures the moon and clouds even if it is slightly altered. It just has a wonderful feel to it, and I love the way the lights in the bottom right corner balance out the strong presence of the moon.
Christina of Sweden - The Androgynous Queen (1626 – 1689)
This is an absolutely incredible digital art series by Alexia Sinclair. Here's an excerpt from her site explaining the series:
"Alexia Sinclair’s The Regal Twelve is a series that combines hundreds of photographic elements and illustrations to form complex digitally montaged artworks. The series portrays twelve European monarchs who have ruled supreme and whose lives span over two millennia. Through the study of history and portraiture, a series of contrasting regals formed, whose stories are revealed within each artwork. Travelling to Europe to photograph a host of regal backdrops, Sinclair returned to Australia to photograph models and props in the studio. Like pieces from a jigsaw puzzle, she meticulously stitched together each element, along with a myriad of delicious symbols and motifs relating to each monarch."
